A Different Kind of Madonna
I wanted to see Madonna again, especially in such an intimate venue. Madonna, a highly talented artist, is a Diva. We all knew she wouldn't come on right away but long after the tickets were purchased we found out the show wasn't going to start until 10:30. But she is also a Diva. I bought tickets for the show, with a start time of 8:30. I wasn't happy about that with having to work the next day but hey, its Madonna. So I guess what she says goes.
We had also found out after purchasing tickets that we wouldn't have access to our phones during the show. I get the idea of keeping us from flashing pictures and staring at our phones, but it also deprived of us any way to keep track of time or notify people of how late we were running (my driver ended up waiting outside the theater for more than an hour). Turns out the show didn't start until after 11:00.
I've been a Madonna fan for years and have seen her a handful of times during the last 30 years. The show itself was a good production with very strong political overtones. I know that she changes it up for each tour and this one was very different from any of the others I'd been to. This show was more of a theatrical production than a concert. I didn't mind, but if someone was hoping to hear much of her old material they were out of luck.
Overall I'll give the experience three stars. I know Madonna doesn't care what I or anyone else thinks of her and how she runs her shows, but for me, this was the last time I'll spend the effort or the money to go to see her.
